“Beautiful BLM area near Denali National Park”
Boondocking Near Denali National Park
We loved this BLM (Bureau of Land Management) area near Denali National Park. It is close enough to Denali National Park and to nearby Healy, AK for gas, groceries and a few restaurants that you don’t feel isolated.
Denali National Park visitor’s center is about 10 miles from Otto Lake Road. A beautiful scenic drive so it is worth staying further from the park.
Otto Lake Road FREE Camping
I think this was one of the TOP places we camped while in Alaska. We stayed here in June 2019 camping off of a little dirt road, less than a quarter-mile from the highway. The road noise can be heard but that didn’t bother us when you area staying FREE up to 14 days.
Just off of the Parks Highway, turning west on Otto Lake Road, the very first left is a dirt road on BLM Land. There is an RV Park down Otto Lake Road as well, but the campsite we stayed at was a free little spot just off the highway.
This boondocking area has 3 spots possibly a 4th not far from the highway. The dirt road a bit bumpy getting in but we didn’t have any problems.
The views are amazing! We even saw moose walk through our camp. Just down the way, there is a meadow and a small camping area for tents or a small RV like a casita.
Would we stay again?
We will definitely stay at this secluded BLM next time we visit Alaska.

Hey, we just drove all the way up here based on your recommendation and the coordinates that are on the website don’t lead you anywhere. They kind of just stop in the middle of the road. I don’t think it’s accurate anymore.
It has been 5 years since I posted this review, so the coordinates may have changed. Sorry about that. That area has some great boondocking if I remember correctly. 🙂
