Halibut Fishing

When you are in Alaska you have to go on a fishing charter for halibut, this was also high on Aaron’s bucket list. We went out with Ninilchik Charters in August and had a blast.  If you ever find yourself in Ninilchik, Alaska be sure to check them out, we highly recommend them.

We had so much fun and I don’t fish normally, so this was an experience for sure! This was my first time actually fishing. Caption Frank and Angelia really helped make it a fun and memorable experience.

We each caught our two halibut we were allowed. The rest are from the other guys on the boat. Maggie missed us so much she had to be in the photo! The daily limit for Alaska Halibut fishing is 2 halibut per day per person, and many fish caught weigh well over 100 pounds. Thankful ours were under 100 pounds since we live in a small space.

FISH ON?

We both even caught a fish at the same time and that made the trip even more EPIC for us! I wanted to fish for my Dad who loves to go fishing and since he wasn’t there to enjoy the trip with us, it made me really want to try and enjoy fishing for him. I had a blast, especially since I have never caught a fish, let alone a halibut in ALASKA.

It is a lot harder than it looks, who would have thought a fish could be so heavy! Reeling our fish in at the same time was truly EPIC for me, we had so much fun and hope to do this again one day in Alaska, Flordia and maybe San Diago.

Aaron likes to fish so he has done this before along with my dad who has also been on a charter. I can see why people have such a blast on these ocean fishing trips!

Ninilchik Charter Captains

Frank and Angelia the captains of our boat really helped make it a fun and a memorable experience for us. Angelia even helped us film parts of it so we wouldn’t miss a thing. There was a teenager on the boat who also got in on the filming! It was just awesome! We hope to fish again with them in Florida someday.

All in all, this was one of our best adventures we had in Alaska besides landing on a glacier, this ranks up there as pretty AMAZING!
