“Perfect Boondocking for Carlsbad Caverns. Can be very windy!”
Mile 10 Dispersed Camping
We stayed only a couple of miles down the road from White’s City and the National Park entrance. If you need fuel, groceries, laundry, etc. its an easy 20-mile drive into the town of Carlsbad for “normal” prices.
We boondocked at Mile 10 Dispersed for 4 nights and although close to the highway the traffic noise was relatively quiet. The worst part was the wind and is even reported online as one of the nuisances of White’s City. All in all not too bad we just had 2 days with about 50 mph gusts which can be quite annoying. Nighttime was calm and peaceful and the star gazing is awesome.
Great Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile 4G LTE cell coverage as well so it made working a breeze. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip through the area.
Our weBoost cell booster was on standby just in case the signal strength wasn’t strong enough but was not needed.
